이 영 균 A Ryung‘s
나는 추상적인 회화 스타일을 통해 사람들 간의 유대감을 그려내는 현대의 예술가이다.
모두가 알고 있듯이, 현대 회화에는 다양한 형태가 있다. 모든 화가는 자신의 고유한 그림 기법을 사용하여 새로운 시대를 여는 개척자의 역할을 자발적으로 수행한다. 그러므로, 다양한 형태로 나타나는 작품들을 특정한 양식으로 분류하기에 한계가 있고, 기존의 용어를 사용하여 그 특성을 설명하는 것이 어려울 수 있다. 이러한 수많은 형태와 이미지의 홍수 속에서, 구별될 수 있는 나의 내면을 표현하기 위해, 작품의 원천인 자신의 잠재의식 속 깊이 있는 시각적 기억과 생각을 연구하고 있다.
나의 그림은 내가 자랐고 아이처럼 놀았던 곳에서 볼 수 있었던 산의 시각적 기억을 기반으로
한다. 산 입구에는 오방색 끈이 달린 성황당 나무와 무더기의 돌들이 서로 쌓여있었다. 영원히 내 마음속에 주입된 아스라한 기억 중에 성황당 나무의 잔상과 거기에 매달린 끈이 있다. 이 끈은 내가 오래도록 잊지 못할 외상의 은유적 표현이다.
우리의 삶에서 슬프고 어려운 순간들이 행복하고 즐거운 것보다 더 기억에 남는 것은 부끄러운 일이 아니다.
나의 과거로부터 지난 그 순간들은 점차 퇴색되었지만, 그러한 시간들이 있었기에 오늘날의 내가 있을 수 있다고 생각한다. 나는 모든 사람이 자기 자신을 사랑하고 동정한다는 것을 믿는다.
그래서 그들은 자신의 의지와 능력으로 힘든 시기를 헤쳐 나갈 수 있는 자구책을 찾는다.
나에게도 역시 그림을 그리는 것은 나의 자구책이다.
이러한 의미에서 볼 때 삶의 모든 부분은 소중한 순간이다. 좋은 추억은 소중한 유대감을 만들고, 그렇게 형성된 유대감은 영원히 가슴에 남아 있게 되며 평생 지속 될 기억을 만든다.
인간이 다른 생물들과 구별되는 것은 ‘기억’ 할 수 있기 때문이다.

A Ryung’ note
My paintings are based on the visual memories of a mountain that was visible from the place where I grew up and played as child. At the entrance of the mountain there was a village shrine tree with colorful strings and many stones stacked up upon one another. Among the faded memories that are forever instilled in my mind are the residual images of that village shrine tree and the strings hanging from it. For me these strings are a metaphorical representation of the traumas I have experienced throughout my entire life.
It is an undeniable shame that the sad and difficult moments in our lives are more memorable than the happy and joyful ones, however it was these difficulties that fueled my desire to paint.
These moments from my past have now become faded memories, but nevertheless they are instilled within me and have made me who I am today. I truly believe that everyone loves and has sympathy for themselves, so they seem to prepare ways in which to get through tough times with their own willpower and capability. In this sense, every part of life is a precious moment. A good memory makes a precious bond, and that bond remains in one’s heart forever, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
The reason why humans are distinguished from other creatures is because of ‘memory’.
